“Color as Expression in Philippine Architecture”

As we celebrate October as the museums and galleries month, Casa Gorordo Museum will hold a CGMTalk entitled, Color as Expression in Philippine Architecture” on October 25, 2021 at 2 p.m. 

Casa Gorordo Museum has invited Ar. Mico Manalo restoration architect and project director of Escuela Taller Intramuros will discuss how “Philippine culture has always been characterized as “colorful”, though in the course of the last century, the depiction of architecture and its allied arts – especially within the ambit of colonial architecture – has almost been stripped of color. This lecture has the intention to explore manifestations of color in colonial architecture, the subsequent path to its loss, and some signs of resurgence in color and ornament.”

Ar. Mico Manalo is specializing in the conservation of built heritage. He is a lecturer at the at the Cultural heritage Studies program of the UST Graduate School, a member of the National Committee on Monuments and Sites of NCCA, and currently heads the Sub commission on Cultural Heritage of the NCCA.
