In partnership with Cebu Institute of Technology-University’s Creative Alliance of Multimedia and Visual Arts Students (CAMVAS) and the University of the Philippines – Cebu’s Fine Arts Student Organization (FASO), Casa Gorordo Museum presents to you “Open Secret: Glimpses of Folklore in Revolution and Resistance”, our first Black Light exhibit.
“Open Secret” highlights the important influence of folklore on ordinary people’s participation in the revolution against colonial rule. It presents a unique view of the formation of the 1898 Philippine Republic, commemorated in this year’s Gabii sa Kabilin. This black light exhibit will run the whole of May in celebration of the Philippines’ Heritage Month until the 2nd of June.
A simple ribbon-cutting ceremony for the exhibit happened on May 9, 2023. The production of the exhibit happened from early March to late April.

“This art exhibit in black light is the first time we collaborated with this very talented group of young artists, and it has been quite a fruitful and meaningful creative journey for us,” Moreno said.

“We are excited to show this to the public, especially during Gabii sa Kabilin,” said Rave Fabria, Museum Officer.
“More artworks will be showcased during Gabii sa Kabilin when we extend part of Open Secret as a street exhibit,” said Ceona Gonzales.

The Open Secret Exhibit was officially open to the public during this year’s Gabii sa Kabilin. The exhibit received praise from museum-goers and will be having its mall debut this June 2, 2023 at the SM City Cebu, Northwing.
